2022 SORA Instructor Information: The NJSP – Private Detective Unit will be opening and accepting applications for SORA Instructor certification starting January 1, 2022 – February 14, 2022. Please review the requirements (PDF) before applying. Once successfully completing the application process and background investigation, applicant’s will be invited to a 4 day / 40-hour SORA Instructor course tentatively scheduled for April 4-7, 2022, in Hamilton, NJ. *The NJSP - Private Detective Unit has authorized the temporary use of Virtual/Online SORA training to be utilized during the time of a documented State of Emergency and/or Health State of an Emergency by a certified SORA Instructor only.
*The Temporary Certification to stand post for INITIAL Security Officer (Armed/Unarmed) applicant’s will revert back to the original 30 day time period immediately following this posting.
Effective November 1, 2020:
*ALL certifications and licenses regulated by the New Jersey State Police, Private Detective Unit will no longer be extended effective 11/1/2020 with the exception of SORA Armed Security Officers. As per Executive Order 129, Armed Security Officers will be granted an extension as delineated within the Executive Order.
