Troopers Use Naloxone and CPR to Save Man

Buena Vista Twp, N.J. - Yesterday, troopers from the Buena Vista station utilized Naloxone to save the life of an unresponsive male at his residence.

At approximately 9:45 p.m., troopers responded to a residence on 8th Street in the Newtonville section of Buena Vista. Inside of the residence troopers found a male lying on the kitchen floor, unconscious and barely breathing. Due to the fact that the victim was known to use heroin, troopers immediately administered Naloxone and used an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) in an attempt to revive him. The victim did not react to the Naloxone or AED and subsequently stopped breathing. Troopers then began to perform CPR and after one round of chest compressions and two rescue breaths the victim began to breathe on his own. After troopers administered two additional doses of Naloxone, the victim regained consciousness.

Buena Vista Township EMS arrived on the scene and transported the male to Vineland Regional Medical Center.
